SEMINARIO di ANALISI
Mercoledì 20 Maggio 2009
alle ore 15,00 presso la Sala Riunioni (terzo piano) del Dipartimento di
Matematica, la Prof.ssa Daniela Tonon , SISSA-ISAS,
Trieste,
terrà un Seminario dal titolo:
"A decomposition theorem for BV functions"
Abstract: One of the necessary and sufficient properties,
characterizing real valued BV functions of one variable, is the
well-known Jordan decomposition: it states that a real valued function
of one variable is of bounded variation if and only if it can be
written as the difference of two monotone increasing functions. In
this seminar it is presented a generalization of this property to real
valued BV functions of many variables, extending naturally the concept
of monotone functions. This result is an extension of a previous
similar result for Lipschitz functions. For vector valued BV functions
of many variables a counterexample is given, which prevents further
extensions.
Tutti gli interessati sono invitati a partecipare.
